An externally threaded fastener with a countersunk head, crossed recess, spaced threads, a tapered point and a chip cavity wedge cut into the last few threads where the shank tapers to a point. The underside of the head has protruding ribs equidistantly spaced from each other that extend from the outer edge of the head down towards the shank. Applications / Advantages - The chip cavity gives the installer a faster start when driving the screw, especially into denser woods. The nibs under the head are intended to minimize the chance of chipping the top surface of the material the head is countersunk into. The screws are hardened to reduce the risk of stripping the recess.
